The Wall Street Journal (“WSJ”) reported that Reps. Markey (D-MA) and Barton (R-TX), the co-chairs of the House Bipartisan Privacy Caucus, sent Facebook a letter asking for more information about how Facebook provides and allows applications to use Facebook users’ Facebook IDs. The letter requests responses to several questions, including the number of users affected, when Facebook became aware of the breach, the number of third party applications involved, the particular provisions of Facebook’s Privacy Policy that may have been violated, and a description of what Facebook is doing to address the issue. A copy of the letter can be found on Rep. Markey’s website.
